Womb twin survivors are the sole survivors of a twin or multiple pregnancy. At least 1 person in 10 lost a twin in utero but most people do not realise this has happened to them. However, now we know the physical and psychological signs. This means, even if you don’t know if you lost a twin (or more than one) in utero, you can now make an educated guess.
Many people carry a deep, unspoken sense of loss that began before birth. The surviving twin—often called a womb twin survivor—may grow up with unconscious memories of this early loss imprinted in their body, psyche, and soul.
Though often hidden, these early experiences can echo throughout life. They may manifest as:
- A persistent sense of emptiness or “something missing” (or feel I should have a twin)
- Fear of rejection or abandonment
- Feeling of not realizing full potential
- Intense or stormy relationships, especially with intimacy or attachment
- Feelings of loneliness (or guilt), or feel alone, even when among friends
- Deep sensitivity, empathy, or losing oneself in relationship with others
- Feeling different from other people
- A drive to over-give, over-achieve, or take responsibility for others
- A feeling of searching for something all my life but I don’t know what it is
- Issues with anger, there is too much or too little
- Feelings of inadequacy, unworthy of abundance or happiness – ‘half-living’
- Having two very different sides to your character
Womb Twin Healing provides a safe and sacred space to acknowledge this primal loss and release the imprints it left behind. Through a combination of psychotherapy, body awareness, and energy healing, we gently bring the unconscious memory into consciousness—allowing grief to be honoured and the lost twin to be recognised.
In this process, clients often experience:
- Relief from unexplained sadness or yearning
- Greater stability in relationships and boundaries
- A deeper connection to their own life force
- A renewed sense of wholeness and purpose
Womb Twin Healing Therapy in Dublin is not about erasing the bond with the lost twin. Rather, it is about honouring that connection while reclaiming the freedom to live one’s own unique life fully.
For many womb twin survivors, simply naming and acknowledging this experience is profoundly liberating. From there, healing unfolds—bringing clarity, self-compassion, and a more grounded presence in the world.
If you know that you are a womb-twin or suspect that this may be the case, please feel welcome to reach out and begin your healing journey.
